I have been fly fishing for quite a long time. Definitely since before carriers for them ever existed. Of course, when that time came around, I got one because quite frankly I was tired of worrying about them flying out of the back of my truck and getting destroyed. Even when I got a larger SUV, it still was a hassle for me to store them in there since they moved around a lot and I had always had to put the seats down.
Obviously when they first came out they left a lot to be desired, but it was certainly better than nothing. Over the years people started coming out with better fly fishing rod carriers. Then I felt like it got to a point where companies were just trying to save money, so the quality once again went downhill.
Just when it seemed like all hope was lost and I was going to have to settle for something that wasn’t top quality, Trouts Fly Fishing saved the day. A good friend of mine that I fished with regularly told me about their carriers. He had just purchased one and he raved about how great it was and claimed that it was much sturdier and better made than its competitors. This I most definitely had to see.
I was pretty impressed when I actually saw the carrier in real life. I gave it all of the necessary tests: I yanked on it, I banged my fists on it, and I took it for a ride to see if it shook on the roof at all. It passed everything with flying colors. I was surprised, but also excited that something worthwhile was finally on the market.
That’s when I found myself visiting Trouts Fly Fishing website and ordering a Riversmith River Quiver Rod Carrier for myself. I have zero regrets. Not a single one. Aside from being impressed with the entire thing overall, the installation was a breeze. It didn’t take very long, and I was able to do it all on my own.
I’ve been using it for about six months now, and I’ve taken at least three fairly long distance trips. I no longer have to blast the radio to drown out any noise. I have no worries about the integrity of the roof of my vehicle. I never have to stop and check on the carrier either. It’s really an awesome product.
I now tend to purchase whatever fly fishing equipment I can from Trouts Fly Fishing. I’ve been pretty happy with the things they produce. Anytime I notice someone doesn’t use their carrier, I always find a way to make sure I recommend them, and I absolutely stand by my decision.
